About the client
Founded in 2019 and based in Hull, UK, HiiROC is at the forefront of producing affordable clean hydrogen through their proprietary Thermal Plasma Electrolysis process.
This innovative technology generates zero CO2 emissions while producing valuable by-products like solid carbon black. HiiROC’s solution is as economical as Steam Methane Reforming without the need for Carbon Capture, Usage and Storage and it requires a fraction of the energy compared to water electrolysis.
Their scalable and versatile technology can be used across various sectors, from power generation to industrial decarbonisation.
The challenge
As a fast-growing start-up, HiiROC has expanded rapidly from a handful of employees in 2019 to over 100 today. This growth led to significant challenges in managing quality and HSE documentation. Documents became locked down when employees moved on, and finding the right version of documents became a huge issue internally as document volumes grew.
The company initially used SharePoint for document management but found it cumbersome due to inadequate search functionality, making it nearly impossible to locate necessary documents. They evaluated other QMS solutions alongside Singlepoint. Many seemed outdated and some became prohibitively expensive when additional modules were factored in.
HiiROC therefore needed a quality management and HSE solution that was robust, scalable, and cost-effective from the outset to keep up with its ambitious growth plans.
Our solution
After a thorough evaluation, HiiROC chose Singlepoint for its solid, scalable and modular platform. Key reasons for the selection of Singlepoint included:
- Pricing: Singlepoint’s pricing structure is clear and transparent, with no hidden surprises.
- Modularity: The system provides ultimate flexibility, allowing HiiROC to add modules as the business grows.
- User-Friendly Interface: Workflows can be built using drag-and-drop functionality and the interface is easy to use, significantly reducing the learning curve for end users.
The document management implementation process began in August 2023 and by April 2024, the system was live and actively used by the procurement team, with other teams onboarded in due course.
The Results
“My rule of thumb is if my boss can find what they are looking for quickly, then the system works. With Singlepoint, anyone can now find documents in a few clicks. It has made things very easy for everyone,” said Keith Renouf, Head of HSEQ.
Singlepoint has become integral to HiiROC’s daily operations, particularly managing documents at scale. The introduction of Singlepoint’s document management module has resolved the major issue of locating and managing documents efficiently. Employees can now find the necessary information and documentation in seconds, rather than minutes (or never). This improvement has streamlined internal workflows and significantly increased efficiency.
“The successful adoption of Singlepoint has been part of a wider change management process. Despite the upheaval that always accompanies change, the team has adapted well, which speaks volumes about the system’s ease of use and effectiveness,” noted Francesca Drydale, Software Implementation Consultant.
Singlepoint was instrumental in helping HiiROC successfully navigate its recent audits for ISO9001, ISO14001 and ISO45001 certifications. The structure and ease of information retrieval provided by Singlepoint were critical in ensuring a smooth audit process for both internal teams and external auditors.
Positive feedback from end users also highlights the system’s intuitive nature, further underscoring its effectiveness. Looking ahead, HiiROC plans to implement additional modules, including Audit, Issue, and Change Management, to enhance their quality and HSE management processes further. HiiROC continues to be confident that Singlepoint will meet its evolving needs as it scales.
